Ted Slocomb
A decade of healthcare experience spanning the areas of strategic planning, marketing, portfolio and product lifecycle management, business development and finance for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Mr. Slocomb joined Bear Stearns Health Innoventures from the CNS/Metabolic Franchise of Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, a division of Johnson & Johnson. At Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, his responsibilities included new product planning and commercial evaluations of product acquisition and in-licensing opportunities in metabolic disease as well as lifecycle management initiatives in neurology.
In the four-year period prior to joining Ortho-McNeil, Mr. Slocomb played a leadership role in establishing and growing the metabolic franchise of BASF Pharma. At BASF Pharma, Mr. Slocomb was a member of the U.S. market launch team for Meridia®, where he led key initiatives in pricing, reimbursement, Phase IIIb/IV planning and non-traditional alliances. He supported the negotiation and execution of a multi-national co-promotion agreement for Reductil, coordinated U.S. commercial assessment of in-licensing/acquisition opportunities in metabolic disease and helped shape the first comprehensive long-term growth strategy for BASF Pharma in metabolic disease.
Prior to BASF Pharma, at Bogart Delafield Ferrier, Mr. Slocomb was a strategy consultant to leading pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, including Genentech, Pfizer, Hoechst Marion Roussel, GlaxoWellcome, SmithKline Beecham, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Assignments included product launch and marketing strategy formulation, repositioning of under-performing products, R&D portfolio evaluation and prioritization, post-acquisition integration of R&D assets and technology in-licensing/acquisition screening and assessment.
Mr. Slocomb earned a BA in Genetics from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University (Stern Scholar, Beta Gamma Sigma).
